Model United Nations club
Model United Nations (MUN) is an amazing opportunity for students to become familiar with the work methods of different committees of the United Nations and other international organisations. Students are assigned a country that they then represent in a simulation of the selected committee – organ of an international organization, such as the UN Security Council, UN General Assembly, the International Court of Justice, the NATO etc. The goal is to search for innovative solutions to problems the international community faces, from the point of view of the country a student represents and the entire international community. During the debate and writing of documents, students gain knowledge about international law, international relations, diplomacy and the process of negotiation.
MUN is conducted under the mentorship of Dr Vasilka Sancin and Maša Kovič Dine, who also prepare student teams for international conferences and competitions. The teams have had amazing success in competitions all across the world, some of the recent being the Best Delegation award at WIMUN 2014 conference held in Rome, Italy, the Best Delegation award at MUNTR 2015 conference held in Antalya, Turkey and the Best Delegation award at WIMUN 2015 conference held at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA.
Furthermore, the MUN club of the Faculty of Law annually organizes the MUNLawS conference, which is the largest MUN conference in Slovenia. You are kindly invited to participate in MUNLawS 2016 conference, which shall take place between the 20th and 23rd October 2016 at the Faculty of Law.
