Environmental Legal Clinic

Environmental Legal Clinic is an extra-curricular activity for students in the fourth year of undergraduate studies and for master students of the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana. The aim of the Environmental Legal Clinic is to broaden the students’ theoretical knowledge and provide them with practical experiences in the field of national, European and international environmental law. Each year up to ten students attend lectures by environmental law experts and experts from other disciplines on a selected issue and with the support of the mentors search for a solution through practical work. The students also have an opportunity to gain additional practical experiences by volunteering for selected environmental NGOs in Slovenia.

So far the students have worked on the following topics:

  • Legal Protection of Wolves in Slovenia
  • Air Pollution with PM10 in Slovenia
  • The Right to Clean Drinking Water
  • Legal Protection of Large Carnivores in Slovenia

The clinic is run in association between the Department for International Law, Institute of Public Administration at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, and the Legal-Informational Centre for NGOs.
