Invitation: The Guild Law Doctoral Workshop Unlocking Legal Perspectives for Sustainable Development University of Vienna, 22-23 February 2024 The Workshop

The University of Vienna, member of The Guild of Research-Intensive Universities, is inviting applications for a doctoral workshop in law with a focus on sustainable development aspects. The second edition of the Guild Doctoral Workshop is thought to contribute to the ever-evolving discourse on law and sustainability. At the workshop, doctoral candidates will be invited to present (for 10 minutes) and discuss their work with each other, and with academic experts drawn from The Guild’s network of leading European Law Departments and Faculties. The workshop is an opportunity for doctoral candidates in law to practice their presentational skills in English, develop their capacity for academic critique in an international context, and gain ideas for their work. It will also be an essential opportunity to make academic connections with peers across Europe.

Application Process

Doctoral candidates in law are asked to submit no more than 1 page of A4 containing their name, area of study, year of study, and name of supervisor. The application should also include a short description of up to 200 words of the presentation they intend to give. Up to two doctoral candidates per Law Faculty/Department will normally be chosen, depending on the match between topics and panels.

We invite applications by 17 October 2023. Successful candidates will be contacted in late October at the latest. Applications should be sent to barbara.kokot@pf.uni-lj.si

Cost

Supporting travel cost and accommodation will be the responsibility of the sending Law Faculty/School/Department. The Law Faculty of University of Vienna will host and ensure all meals during the workshop.
