Veber Marusa

Maruša Tekavčič Veber (Maruša T. Veber) is an Assistant Professor and Research Associate at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana. Previously she was a junior visiting fellow at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva (Switzerland), a visiting scholar at the University of Hull Law School (United Kingdom) and a researcher at the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) in Bruges (Belgium). She was a visiting researcher at the University of Auckland Law School in the summer of 2024. Her research focuses on international institutional law, responsibility of states and international organizations, sanctions in international law, intersections between international and European Union law, general interest in international law, the use of force in international law, human rights, artificial intelligence, international humanitarian law and international criminal law. In 2023 she was a recipient of a postdoctoral project on the confiscation of private and state-owned property in the context of the situation in Ukraine by the Slovenian National Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS) (2023-2025). She is a rapporteur at the Oxford International Organizations (Oxford University Press) and is a member of the editorial board of the Ljubljana Law Review (LLR). Previously she was awarded for her work by the United Nations Association of Slovenia (2014, 2022), the Association of Slovenian Jurists’ Societies (the Award for Young Jurist of the Year 2023) and the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana (2024). She is a co-organiser of the All-European International Humanitarian and Refugee Law Moot Court Competition that has been organised at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana since 2016 in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) and the Red Cross of Slovenia (RKS).
