Study Exchange in Ljubljana
Are you a law student at a partner university of the University of Ljubljana? We would love to welcome you as an exchange student! As part of the programme, you do not need to pay tuition fees at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana - you simply continue paying tuition to your home university if tuition fees apply. To get started, reach out to the exchange coordinator at your university for guidance.
The Faculty of Law is proud to see a growing number of students joining us through exchange programmes and other international collaborations. We also work with partner institutions worldwide, including Brazil, Australia, China, South Africa, and Russia, to create exciting opportunities for students.
To make your experience even better, we have designed a selection of courses taught in English, specifically for exchange students. This is a fantastic way to learn, connect, and immerse yourself in a vibrant international academic community.
For more details, check out our information leaflet or visit the University of Ljubljana’s website. Additional information is also available with Ms. Lea Kremič from the International Relations Office
We look forward to seeing you in Ljubljana!
Erasmus Exchange Programme
Erasmus began as the European Union's flagship programme for educational exchange, designed to boost student mobility across Europe. Originally part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme (2007–2013), it facilitated opportunities for students and staff to work and study abroad while fostering transnational cooperation among universities in 33 countries. Since its inception in 1987, Erasmus has grown into more than just an educational programme—it’s become a social and cultural phenomenon.
For many European university students, Erasmus provided their first chance to live and thrive in another country. Over three million students have benefitted from this life-changing experience. In 2014, Erasmus+ replaced the Lifelong Learning Programme. To learn more about Erasmus+, please visit the official Erasmus+ website.
If you’re interested in participating in Erasmus student mobility, start by contacting the international office at your home institution. They can guide you on host universities, the selection process, and available financial support. At the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, we’ve established Erasmus+ exchange agreements with over a hundred universities across Europe. We welcome around a hundred Erasmus students annually. They either join us for one or two semesters.
Erasmus+ Partner Institutions
Erasmus exchanges can operate based on formal bilateral agreements set up between partner universities. To apply for an exchange to our school, you should first check if the University of Ljubljana is a partner of your university, and then contact the exchange coordinator at your university. The Faculty currently has about 120 Erasmus+ bilateral agreements.
English Courses
In the 2025/26 academic year, we offer 17 courses taught in English that are specifically designed for international exchange students. These courses include a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials, individual study, and assessment activities such as exams or other evaluation methods. Courses are available in either the winter or summer semester, with exams taking place at the end of each course. Please note that courses may not be conducted if there is insufficient student interest (fewer than 10 students, as a general rule). However, in such cases, individual consultations will still be provided for interested students, and exams for the course can still be taken.
