The Centre for Information Technology, Law, and Ethics (CITPE), established in 2020, serves as a bridge between the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana and its affiliated institutes—the Institute of Criminology and the Institute for Comparative Law. Its mission is to guide and coordinate research, education, and publishing activities on legal and ethical issues related to information technologies.

In response to the digital revolution, which has transformed social relations and intersected with various legal fields, CITPE focuses its research on critical topics such as social networks, big data, artificial intelligence, and autonomous driving. A key area of future exploration is establishing legal and ethical frameworks for the development, implementation, and use of AI systems across diverse aspects of society, including the judicial system.

CITPE welcomes collaboration with other organizations, especially those engaged in work aligned with its core mission.
