University of Ljubljana Faculty of Law is the winner (AG) of the ELMC
On April 4, the All-European Final of the European Law Moot Court (ELMC) was held at the Court of Justice of the EU, organized by the ELMC Society. Following their double victory at the Regional Final in Brno in February, the University of Ljubljana team qualified for the All-European Final both as representatives of the parties and in the role of the Advocate General. Katja Svetina was awarded Best Advocate General, while Mark Bauer, Ana Mulej, and Marta Lipovec secured an impressive 3rd-4th place worldwide in the category of parties representatives. In tackling complex EU law issues on jurisdiction, competition law and consumer protection, as well as the art of performing in court, the students were mentored by Professor Dr. Ana Vlahek and Teaching Assistants Masha Korošec and Tjaša Kalin.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who supported the team with their invaluable advice throughout the preparation process: Professors Dr. Klemen Podobnik, Dr. Damjan Možina and Dr. Matija Damjan, Teaching Assistant Mohor Fajdiga, and attorneys from Kavčič, Bračun and Partners, Rojs, Peljhan, Prelesnik and Partners, Schönherr Law Firm, and Šelih and Partners. We are also grateful for the financial support that enabled the team's participation in the competition, provided by The Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia, Šelih and Partners, Kavčič, Bračun and Partners, Jadek & Pensa Law Firm, Schönherr and Partners, and Senica Law Firm.
Big congratulations to all the participating teams, as well as to the organisers of this remarkable "moot, meet & compete" event who made it possible for the students to visit Luxembourg and the CJEU, meet the Judges, Advocates General and other professionals at the CJEU, and to experience firsthand what it is like to appear before the Court. We were honored to be joined by Slovenian judges at the General Court of the EU, Prof. Dr. Maja Brkan and Prof. Dr. Damjan Kukovec, during the competition. We are grateful for their encouraging words and most warm welcome of our team in Luxembourg.
We deeply regret that this year's ELMC All-European Final took place without the late Judge Dr. Marko Ilešič, who was a passionate supporter of the ELMC competition and our students. The team dedicates this achievement to his memory.
