Under the project, which began in October 2023, various educational and expert activities will take place, primarily aimed at students of the University of Ljubljana, but also the general public. In the academic year 2023/24, a new elective course titled "Collective Actions in the EU" (Sl. "Kolektivne tožbe v EU") is available for third and fourth-year Bachelor students of the Faculty of Law as well as for students of other faculties of the University of Ljubljana interested in the topic. Due to a sufficient number of enrollments, the course (4 ECTS) will be offered in full already during the summer semester of 2023/24. The content of lectures, the method of work, and assessment of students' activities are outlined in the course curriculum, approved in 2023 at the Faculty of Law and accredited at the University of Ljubljana.

In addition to the course coordinator (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ana Vlahek) and two other faculty professors (Prof. Dr. Aleš Galič and Assist. Prof. Dr. Neža Pogorelčnik Vogrinc), two external experts will conduct lectures and seminars, with other specialists joining as guests. The course is designed as a combination of the following activities:

  1. Interactive lectures where students become familiar with the content and present issues of collective redress mechanisms in the EU and its member states, gaining theoretical understanding of the subject.
  2. Seminars involving in-depth case studies from the existent case-law, which students will analyze and present in seminar tasks under the guidance of the mentors.
  3. Public roundtable discussion at the end of the educational semester, allowing students equipped with new knowledge to engage in discussions with distinguished experts and other interested parties.
  4. Distribution of didactic materials, available in a newly designed online course platform, providing all necessary information about the course, lecture materials, seminar resources, a forum for exchanging views, case analysis tasks, etc.
  5. Participation in court hearings in collective actions proceedings if they take place during the educational semester.
  6. Taking and analysing of Socrative quizzes for checking and reinforcing the level of knowledge of the studied topics.
At the end of each educational semester, the faculty will organize a public roundtable discussion with distinguished experts and other interested parties, addressing current topics and challenges of collective redress in Slovenia and other EU member states.
