Between April 27 and 29, 2025, the 30th jubilee edition of the Central and Eastern European Moot Court Competition (CEEMC) was held in Warsaw. The competition is organized by the British Law Centre of the University of Cambridge. Teams from the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Law (PF UL) have consistently ranked among the top at the competition, and this year, the PF UL team secured their fourth consecutive victory.
The winning team, distinguished not only by their research excellence but also by strong team spirit and dedicated work ethic, consisted of students Rok Tretjak, Maja Kalin, Maja Časar, and Anja Košmrlj. Maja Kalin was also awarded the Best Speaker Award. The students trained under the mentorship of Associate Professor Dr. Ana Vlahek and Teaching Assistants Tjaša Kalin and Masha Korošec.
The team began preparations in December last year, when the fictional preliminary ruling case was published. The first stage of the competition involved the submission of written memoranda in English for both the applicant and the respondent. The second, oral stage was conducted in Warsaw before a panel of CJEU judges and other EU law experts. Eighteen teams from nine Central and Eastern European countries took part (including, besides UL, teams from the College of Europe Natolin, Sofia University ‘St. Kliment Ohridski’, University of Zagreb, Charles University, Masaryk University, University of Warsaw, University of Wrocław, West University of Timișoara, Comenius University, University of Trnava, Free University of Tbilisi, Adam Mickiewicz University, Kozminski University, Babeș-Bolyai University, Ivan Franko National University, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, and Alexandru Ioan Cuza University). We extend our gratitude to the Law Firm Šelih and Partners for hosting the students in they office and training with them, and to The Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for funding their participation in the competition.

Sincere appreciation also goes to all colleagues who have, over the past decades, dedicated their time and expertise to preparing our teams for the competition.
