Program information

First-Cycle Study Programme

The study programme at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, is organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Reform. Since the 2023/24 academic year, legal education has primarily been offered through the Integrated Master's Study Programme in Law. Consequently, admission to the first year of the First-Cycle Law Programme is no longer possible, and the implementation of the two-cycle law programme is expected to be phased out by approximately 2030.

The First-Cycle Law Programme lasts four years (240 ECTS credits).

Its primary objective is to educate legal professionals capable of working independently in legal professions that do not require passing the State Legal Examination. For students intending to take the State Legal Examination, the programme provides a high-quality foundation for continuing their studies in a second-cycle programme.

Typical career paths for graduates include positions in:

  • the business sector,
  • public administration, including the conduct of administrative procedures,
  • support roles within the judiciary and legal services.

Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are awarded the professional title:

  • Bachelor of Laws (University Programme) (male graduate), or
  • Bachelor of Laws (University Programme) (female graduate).

The Slovenian titles awarded are diplomirani pravnik (UN) and diplomirana pravnica (UN).

Due to the gradual introduction of the Integrated Master's Study Programme in Law, the Faculty is progressively discontinuing the First-Cycle Programme. Consequently, enrolment in individual years of study will remain possible only for a limited period.

Students enrolled in the programme in the 2022/23 academic year who progress regularly (without repeating a year or extending their student status) will be able to complete the programme under the same conditions that applied when they enrolled. Students enrolled before 2022/23 will also be allowed to enrol in individual years for a transitional period extending two years beyond the enrolment of the final generation of students in that year.
