Project Description
The project addresses digitization and the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) and artificial intelligence (AI) across various spheres of older people's lives, both in public services (e.g., healthcare) and private services (e-banking). At the international, European, and national levels, the transition to digital services and the increasing use of artificial intelligence systems have become key drivers, particularly in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with contactless solutions at the forefront. Furthermore, digitization and the use of artificial intelligence are among the key conditions for the transition to a low-carbon circular economy.
The project will address the issue of how digitization and the use of artificial intelligence systems affect the rights of older people, which do not seem to be adequately addressed in the relevant plans and legal acts promoting the fastest possible transition to digital services and the use of artificial intelligence systems. The project aims to develop recommendations for the implementation and realization of digitization and the introduction of artificial intelligence systems at the national level, consistent with the international and national regulatory framework for the protection of the human rights of older persons. On the one hand, older people need to be empowered with access to ICT and AI, and their digital literacy needs to be improved. On the other hand, the development of ICT and AI needs to be adapted to older people, ensuring a safe environment that respects human rights and does not exacerbate discrimination.
