Dr. Barbara Novak, Full Professor of Civil and Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, a Full Member of AE (Academia Europaea), and Vice-Rector of the University of Ljubljana (2018–2021).

She is a member of the expert group at CEFL (Commission on European Family Law), ECTIL (European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law, Vienna) in partnership with the Institute for European Tort Law of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, a corresponding member of the Cambridge Family Law Centre, the Royal Society of Edinburgh-founded Multi-Disciplinary Research Network by Edinburgh Napier University, the international editorial board of the journal FamRZ (Zeitschrift für das gesamte Familienrecht), the editorial board of the journal Family & Law; a member of the Scientific Association for Family Law (Wissenschaftliche Vereinigung für Familienrecht e.V., Bonn), and a member of the working group of the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities for drafting the 2004 amendment to the Marriage and Family Relations Act and the preparation of new family legislation.

She regularly collaborates with international institutions: University of Regensburg, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, KU Leuven, Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb, Union Internationale du Notariat Latin – Commission des Affaires Européennes et de la Méditerranée, University of Osnabrück, Deutsches Jugendinstitut e. V., Georg-August University of Göttingen.

Dr. Barbara Novak is the author of numerous scientific contributions and monographs. In 2018, the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana recognized her for her significant contributions to the advancement of scientific research.
