Kos Marjan

Marjan Kos is an assistant professor of administrative law and public administration at the Department of Administrative Law. Since 2024, he has acted as the head of the Department.

He joined the Faculty as a teaching assistant at the Chair of Constitutional Law in 2022 and subsequently moved to the Department of Administrative Law. In 2023, he defended his PhD (in English) at the Faculty of Law on "Differentiation in Fundamental Rights Protection in the European Union in the Light of Asymmetric Federalism".

In his teaching and research, he specialises in issues related to EU public law, especially fundamental rights protection and EU administrative law, to transparency, integrity and the prevention of corruption in different areas, administrative procedure and dispute as well as tax law.

He teaches graduate courses in Tax Law, Public Administration, Administrative Procedural Law, Administrative Institutions, and Protection of Rights in Relation to Public Authorities, as well as postgraduate (PhD) courses on Law of Civil Service and Development of Public Administration.

He participates in several research projects and has also acted as a member of the board at Transparency International Slovenia (2023–2024), secretary of the Slovenian Constitutional Law Association (2019–), and secretary of the Club Alumni of the Faculty of Law (2022–2025).

In 2022, he established a legal clinic on "Transparency and integrity in the public and private sector". He has acted as a mentor for several of the Faculty's moot court teams in the area of human rights protection. Currently, he acts as a mentor to the team at "Sports Law Arbitration Moot" on sports arbitration.

In 2023, he received the Faculty Award for Outstanding Teaching, and in 2024, the Association of Law Societies in Slovenia and the Association of Company Law Societies in Slovenia awarded him the Young Lawyer of the Year Award.
