Vid Žepič

Dr. Vid Žepič is an assistant professor at the Department of Legal History, Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana. He obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, and pursued further academic training at the Faculty of Law in Münster and at the Centre for the Study and Research of Ancient Law in Pavia. He conducts tutorials in Roman Law. At the undergraduate level, he is a co-lecturer in the elective courses Foreign Legal Terminology – German, Roman Law (for Erasmus students), Ius commune and the European Legal Tradition, and the Jean Monnet Module Sexual Criminal Law. At the postgraduate level, he co-teaches the courses Reading Glossators’ and Post-Glossators’ Works, Legal Elements in Roman Literary and Philosophical Texts, and Roman Property Law in Relation to Modern Legal Systems. He is a member of the faculty research programme Integration of European Legal Terminology into the Slovenian Legal System. His research focuses on Roman property law, the reception of Roman law, and the history of criminal law, with particular emphasis on sexual offences. He is the author or co-author of several scholarly monographs. He regularly participates in international conferences, congresses and lectures at foreign law faculties. He has led several projects aimed at curricular reform through the integration of information and communication technologies into teaching. In 2023 and 2024, he received awards from the Senate of the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana for outstanding scientific achievements.
