The Department focuses on teaching and research in labour and social security law, emphasizing work as a fundamental societal value and its legal regulation. It addresses employment relationships, wages, and social security systems that protect individuals in cases like illness, unemployment, or old age.

At the undergraduate level, the Department offers courses such as Labour Law, Social Security Law, and International and European Labour Law. At the master’s level, it provides Labour Law and Procedure and International and European Social Security Law. For doctoral students, specialized courses include Labour Law and International Labour and Social Law. The Department also offers two courses in English for Erasmus exchange students.

The Department has a strong tradition of combining theory and practice, building on the work of esteemed predecessors like Professor Rudi Kyovsky and Professor Polonca Končar, who achieved international recognition in the field.
